Aegis was the name of Zeus's shield, making it an appropriate name for a plate carrier. Unlike Zeus's shield, the ATS Aegis plate carrier is a scalable system that allows for application to many different mission sets.
The Aegis is sized on small, medium, large and XL ESAPI plates, as well as the 10X12 inch plate common to law enforcement. The plate pockets are made so that they can take straight, curved, or multi-curved plates, and are held closed by heavy duty Velcro on the plate pocket flap. The back side of the pocket that rests against the wearer has a thin closed cell foam pad under a layer of Aero Spacer wicking material. Adjustable two inch webbing with removable shoulder pads make up the upper suspension system.
The upper chest area of the Aegis has PALS webbing over Velcro, with Velcro sewn to the PALS webbing for attaching MOLLE compatible pouches like the ATS Combat Leader Admin Pouch, but also provides an attachment point for Law Enforcement identifier placards. There are four channels and three rows of MOLLE space on the upper section, with an additional six channels and three rows of MOLLE on the front flap. The lower two rows of PALS webbing are also covered with soft side Velcro to interface with the back side Velcro of the ATS Slimline Modular Chest Harnesses. There are also two ITW/Nexus Quick Attach Surface Mount buckles to interface with the Slimline Modular Chest Harnesses.
The back panel of the Aegis features a box-X stitched drag handle with one row of four channels of PALS at the top of the carrier, followed by 5 rows and 6 channels of PALS. There is a 6 inch tall and 9½ inch wide grid of soft side Velcro to attach identifier placards to.
The Aegis V2 comes with the military version cummerbund that can accept side plates up to 6X6 inches. The cummerbund has three rows of PALS webbing for attaching any MOLLE compatible pouches or accessories. There is an optional Hybrid cummerbund, available separately, that can be used with the system, and the ATS Chest Harness Adapter Kit that allows the integration of the ATS Slimline Chest Harness with the use of four ITW/Nexus QASM buckles.

I have experience with various types of body armor and plate carriers from my time in the Military and law enforcement. Over a year ago I decided to purchase the Aegis V2 and run it exclusively for both work and range/training days.
I purchased a medium plate carrier with soft armor for the cummerbunds. The plate carrier itself is built very well and I have not had any issues with the stitching or fabric becoming weak or fraying.
The plate bags are sized perfectly for the LTC medium multicurve SAPI plates I run and are held firmly in place by a Velcro flap. The plates do not move individually from the plate bags when running, jumping, or climbing over obstacles.
The padding used on the body side of the plat bags are comfortable and do not retain sweat or water. They are also decent at venting heat in warmer conditions or during longer periods of use. I have not noticed the padding becoming thin or less comfortable over time, nor do I expect them to.
The shoulder pads are low profile and relatively comfortable, though I would prefer they be wider to disperse weight when wearing the carrier for longer periods of time. I do appreciate the fact they Velcro from the top and double as a method for cable management when running communications or a camelback.
The cummerbunds are built well and hold the ATS soft armor perfectly. I appreciate the fact the cummerbunds have built in pockets to hold radios/chest seals or various other items. The only complaint I have with the medium cummerbund is the last row of molle in the back is not full sized, therefore you cannot run molle items all the way to the rear of the cummerbund.
My biggest complaint about the Aegis V2 is the molle front flap. The bottom two rows of molle on the front flap are velcro backed and help with running placards, but the velcro has slightly worn over time, and sometimes loses its grip when bending over or jumping. I wish the Aegis had a full field of velcro backing over the flap, or had an option to be purchased without the front flap for people like myself who use various placard systems.
My final thoughts: The Aegis V2 is a durable, lightweight, low profile, scalable, and extremely comfortable design. It has quickly become one of my favorite plate carriers and I plan to continue running it for work.
I bought this in 2019 and have used this plate carrier in the Army. It has gone to the field with me many times. With that said it has endured desert weather including heat, sand and sweat. It's also been in cold, muddy, rainy weather. It has been to riots and various other missions. I've also used it hundreds of occasions on the range.
This vest is awesome. I had used it so much yet it was super durable and hardly had any wear and tear to it.
The ATS V2 vest was the most comfortable I have had in comparison to many other vests. I've worn the interceptor, various issued IOTV's, eagle industries, and the LBT 6094.
What made it comfortable was the mesh lining on the inside iner panels that faced the body. It wasn't a rough feel when I wore combat shirts or skivy shirts. I also felt like it kept me much cooler in the summer.
I chose this vest because I'm a smaller sized person and it let's me breathe and move. The size I went with is size small Sapi. My height is at 5'5 and fluctuate weight from 150 to 160.
Definitely do not take the shoulders pads off when wearing Sapi plates as the straps left marks on my shoulders after days of standing for 12 hour shifts. With that being said, the shoulder pads definitely add comfort.
The only negative I have about this vest after 5 years is that mine was stolen recently after my car was broken in to. So I am hoping to buy a replacement soon.
I definitely advocate for this vest with all the other guys in the unit. Vests that fit are difficult to find especially if you are a short lean guy like myself. Not many companies make a size small sapi plate carrier anymore so I'm glad to find that this vest is both still in production and available in size small sapi. My only wish was that I hoped that they could build this plate carrier also in extra small size sapi.
Overall, if you love being agile, enjoy comfort, and want to be care free knowing that your gear is durable, then this is by far the best plate carrier for you.
I’ve been looking for a new PC for a bit cause my JPC has been giving me issues lately. A few people I worked with at Campbell used the Aegis and all thought highly of it. I bought a few things from ATS in the past in the store and was always impressed. I recently used it in the field and was comfortable even when loaded down. ATS will always have my business ! Great quality gear at a reasonable price that won’t break the bank compared to all the drippy “Gucci” gear that’s been proven in combat.
This plate carrier has been a great piece of kit for over two years now and I have not had any problems with it. It is a very simple design, and I have been able to scale it up to carry a good amount of gear. It has been very comfortable to wear for hours on end with few hot spots. Highly recommend this carrier and company.
I've been nothing but impressed with this company. First of all the customer service has been excellent since day 1. Now as far as the quality. The carrier is extremely comfortable, it's the perfect mix between a slick carrier and a load bearing. It has more than enough room for everything I need to carry, while not having any wasted space. I have never been more pleased with a purchase, this V2 vest is extremely comfortable and minimalist but does not go too bare Bones like the JPC. Carrier is well made, solid platform and comfortable rig. I am Running 10x12 ASC steel plates in a medium size carrier and they fit perfect... also mounted a 6x3 m4 shingle. Product allows full range of motion while maintaining maximum coverage of vitals. Carrier is good to go, and the service team at ATS operates at the highest standard. Highly recommended.

This is the BEST carrier on the market. This carrier can do it all. It holds everything you need. Quality is outstanding and stitching is spot on. Used this carrier with full kit the other day and it was nice. It was 86 degrees and 60% humidity and it was much cooler to wear because of the mesh inner lining. It was still HOT, but not nearly as hot as other carriers without it. All in All, you cant go wrong.
