Product Overview

The ATS Combat Leader Admin Pouch is designed around the "Rite in the Rain" tactical field book (980 and 980T). This excellent field notebook is a great resource for combat leaders, so it needed an equally impressive admin pouch to carry it. That pouch is the ATS CLAP.

Our pouch features a generous internal capacity with a small amount of give to allow the carry of objects other than a flat notebook. The attachment straps are designed to set in a row from the edge of the pouch, allowing it to “bellow” and hold larger objects. There is a row of internal 1" elastic with dividers to carry pens, pencils, chemlights, cell-phone, etc. It has a cord tie-down loop on either side of the pouch to secure sensitive or high value items. There is also a flat zippered pocket on the front of the pouch that is perfect for a passport ID, or other credentials that can be accessed without opening the Velcro main lid.

The CLAP is about 9 1/8 inches wide by 6 inches tall. It covers 6 channels and 6 rows of MOLLE space but actually attaches in 4 channels and 6 rows which are attached with our L Strap design. It weighs about 4 ounces. We use only the highest quality American made hardware, #8 YKK zippers, and American made paracord zipper pulls. The CLAP is available is covered by the ATS Gear lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects in materials and workmanship.

    Finally a Leader Book Pouch

Posted by Nick on Jul 17th 2018

Overall I am very happy with this pouch. It is slim enough that it does not really inhibit any mag or other type pouches when mounted on the chest. Its also great to have one the size of the leader book, as personally, that is mostly what I use for planning in the field. Some improves would be that it could be a little wider to allow the notebook to slide in and out more smoothly. Also, the elastic band for the pens is a little loose, and so it keeps catching the corner of the book when you slide it in. I would either tighten up the elastic band or take it out completely. Also, if you put pens in the front pouch then they tend to roll under the main pouch preventing the notebook from seating all the way down.
