Product Overview

Aegis was the name of Zeus's shield, making it an appropriate name for a plate carrier. Unlike Zeus's shield, the ATS Aegis plate carrier is a scalable system that allows for application to many different mission sets.

The Aegis is sized on small, medium, large and XL ESAPI plates, as well as the 10X12 inch plate common to law enforcement. The plate pockets are made so that they can take straight, curved, or multi-curved plates, and are held closed by heavy duty Velcro on the plate pocket flap. The back side of the pocket that rests against the wearer has a thin closed cell foam pad under a layer of Aero Spacer wicking material. Adjustable two inch webbing with removable shoulder pads make up the upper suspension system.

The upper chest area of the Aegis has PALS webbing over Velcro, with Velcro sewn to the PALS webbing for attaching MOLLE compatible pouches like the ATS Combat Leader Admin Pouch, but also provides an attachment point for Law Enforcement identifier placards. There are four channels and three rows of MOLLE space on the upper section, with an additional six channels and three rows of MOLLE on the front flap. The lower two rows of PALS webbing are also covered with soft side Velcro to interface with the back side Velcro of the ATS Slimline Modular Chest Harnesses. There are also two ITW/Nexus Quick Attach Surface Mount buckles to interface with the Slimline Modular Chest Harnesses.

The back panel of the Aegis features a box-X stitched drag handle with one row of four channels of PALS at the top of the carrier, followed by 5 rows and 6 channels of PALS. There is a 6 inch tall and 9½ inch wide grid of soft side Velcro to attach identifier placards to.

The Aegis V2 comes with the military version cummerbund that can accept side plates up to 6X6 inches. The cummerbund has three rows of PALS webbing for attaching any MOLLE compatible pouches or accessories. There is an optional Hybrid cummerbund, available separately, that can be used with the system, and the ATS Chest Harness Adapter Kit that allows the integration of the ATS Slimline Chest Harness with the use of four ITW/Nexus QASM buckles.

The Aegis Plate Carrier is made in the USA in the ATS factory in Hopkinsville, KY, using only the finest quality Mil Spec, Berry Amendment compliant materials. Its covered by our lifetime warranty against defects in manufacturing and workmanship.

    High Speed Low Drag

Posted by John on Dec 7th 2016

This is the best plate carrier I've ever used. It's very lightweight and low profile. It's a very no-nonsense carrier, it has everything I need and nothing I don't. One of the other reviewer's complaints states "there's too much velcro". I love the velcro panels, it gives me plenty of real estate for my patches. It doesn't inhibit the use of the molle webbing, so I can't understand that individual's complaint. I chose this plate carrier over other offerings specifically for the drag handle, most low profile carriers don't have one. Something else I would like to note, the cummerbund is adjustable with velcro in the back. I am 5'10" at 180 pounds, and the size small cummerbund has enough adjustment to fit me.

    Excellent customer service and product

Posted by Andrew on Nov 21st 2016

I originally purchased a different brand plate carrier and was not satisfied. I have 11x14 plates and the carrier did not fit as advertised. Contacted Loren and he answered all my questions. I was originally told it could be up to 4 weeks for my carrier to arrive. I received it in a week. My plates fit great and the carrier has everything I want. I won't hesitate to tell my brothers and sisters in blue to purchase from ATS.

Best Plate Carrier I've Ever Worn

Posted by Grant Bacon on Jul 25th 2016

Just got this plate carrier (in multicam) last week, and wore it for a run and gun training class this past weekend. I wore this carrier, with plates and full kit, in 96 degree heat (not counting humidity..."real feel" temp was over 100 degrees), and was never really uncomfortable. I have owned and wore other "small footprint" style plate carriers, and even a true minimalist (no cummerbund) style plate carrier, but this one is the most comfortable, one I've worn, and I'm still able to carry a full loadout. All gear and mags stay tight to the body and right in my workspace. The padding is super comfortable, and despite the temps and lots of sweating, the air mesh/moisture-wicking material dried quickly and definitely helped keep me cool. The construction, craftsmanship, materials, and stitching of the plate carrier are top notch. I attached the ATS breacher back panel to this plate carrier and the back panel was great too, especially as it was light enough that I barely knew I was wearing it.

    Great Products

Posted by Unknown on Jul 24th 2016

I am very impressed with the quality of this product. I have purchased several products to include triple mag pouch, hydration pouch, and the plate carrier. All products have exceeded my standard. I usually do not post reviews, but this product was worth a review. If you are in the market for a plate carrier this is the one for you. Customer service is just as good a the products.

    Light, maneuverable, too much velcro

Posted by Dustin Lawrence on Jul 21st 2016

I love the low profile design and construction strength. My only gripe is the overuse of velcro. I personally would prefer to see a buckle under the magazines. The velcro flap is awkward to put on. Additionally there is too much velcro above the magazine fold. However, I'm over all very happy with my purchase. This is a product that is facilitates individual movement techniques and individual organization. Its also apparent the vest itself was constructed very well. I'm expecting this to hold up for years.

Excellent product. Very functional with all of the pouch options. Light weight but durable quality. Perfect fit. Was recommended by a special ops guy. Glad I took his advice. Very pleased.
